Bring it on Longmont..!

Looks like more and more people are picking up on the quality offerings and outdoor settings that Longmont has to offer. For instance, I love the fact that we are producing here in Longmont some of the best craftsman style beers in the country! And now we have multiple offerings in the way of restaurants, pubs, outdoor festivals and music venues to enjoy these beverages.

One of those new festivals might be;

The Boulder K.....wait....The Longmont Kinetic's:

According to Don Bessler and the Daily Camera,....."The competition -- which historically pitted elaborately decorated crafts against each other in a race over land and water at the Boulder Reservoir -- will likely be held at Longmont's Union Reservoir this summer, according to Don Bessler, director of parks, open space and public facilities for the city of Longmont.

The articule goes on to say....."After two years of being beached on dry land -- and 30 years of embodying the phrase "only in Boulder" -- the fantastical and wacky Kinetics Sculpture Challenge is planning to make a splash outside of Boulder in 2010.

Kinetics began as a grass-roots display of creativity in 1980. Later, it picked up a sponsorship from KBCO radio station and, at its peak, tens of thousands of people showed up at the reservoir for the event to drink beer, listen to music, bask in the sun and cheer on the bizarre race.

But when KBCO pulled the plug late in 2007, the "kineticists" traded big crowds and a watery race track for a land-based event, first at the Twenty Ninth Street mall in 2008 and then at the Millennium Harvest House in 2009.

"They have expressed a huge desire to sort of go back to their original roots," Bessler said. "Union Reservoir would really be a very nice fit for them."

The competition would likely be timed to coincide with one of Longmont's biggest events, the Festival on Main, Bessler said, which would allow people to see the crafts on Friday and then watch the competition at the reservoir on Saturday.

Bessler also said the Kinetics competition will be more low-key than in the past.

"The purpose of the event sort of got lost," Bessler said. "We're looking at really making the Kinetics the focus."

So....way to go Longmont! We know what makes for a great community; it's time well spent with friends and family.....and we can do it all starting here in Downtown Old Town, as well as, from other parts of town....after all...... they are all within biking distance of each other!

Holiday Parade and Fireworks!

video

Ok.....the day started off with Santa Claus sky diving over my house! How many people can say that? Well, if you live anywhere near Old Town Longmont you could!

This Saturday concluded the Longmont Festival of Lights events. The main event was the Holiday Parade where it seemed like over half the town attended. Seasonably warm temperatures greeted everyone for what was as billed by the LDDA, "a moment when everything else is forgotten, and when wonderment is shared".

Parade goers then crowded the streets and walked together to Roosevelt Park to drink Hot Cocoa and watch the Christmas Fireworks.

Looking back at what was a wonderful holiday week filled with great memories I can most certainly say, "I'm so proud to be able to sell homes in and around Old Town and share with others my joy in living here!".

Please enjoy the above slide show of Saturdays events.

Lastly, be sure to support your Local Businesses and sponsors of these events!

As always......your Real Estate referrals make my business not only sucessful...it makes it's enjoyable! Thanks.

Light Show in the Rose Garden

Friday night brought a light chill to make Longmont's Light Show in the Rose Garden feel like a Christmas post card. My family along with young Jake started the evening with a Carriage Ride around downtown Old Town to be followed by festivities at Roosevelt Park. We joined others as we watched the Rose Garden light show, Drank Hot Chocolate by the Fire Pits, Rode a mini Train around the park, and visited Santa's Workshop along with his Reindeer. The event was first rate!...the volunteers were friendly, well staffed and the Hot Chocolate plentiful.

Way to go Longmont!!

How Low Can Gas Prices Go!

With gas prices getting lower by the day it's beginning to feel to good to be true. I'm mean how low can they go? Just this morning on CNN they reported on a number of cities across the country having regular unleaded at $1.19/Gallon!!! At a minimum one has to wonder.....how the heck can things change so fast?

If your interested in gas prices across the country click HERE to see the cheapest and closet station near you.

Well....as far as were concerned it's good news!....even if it's only temporary.

Our bank deposits remain the same yet as Christmas quickly approaches we feel richer and perhaps a bit more inclined to get our little baby girl that new kitchen she asked Santa For!

Happy Holiday's

Cory
